WHKS provided survey and site design services for the Dalzell Field renovation project at Senior High School in Dubuque, Iowa. The sports field renovation project consisted of site improvements for a synthetic football field, a new track, new home stand, concession area, press box and new entrance gates. WHKS prepared preliminary and final site design plans that included access roadway, sidewalk, parking lot and plaza design, utility improvements.
The use of the artificial turf for the football field and track required an extensive under-drain collection system and the re-design and replacement of the storm-water system surrounding the field. Several new structures and additional parking area was added to the area, which greatly increased the amount of impervious area of the site. To account for the increased runoff, a new storm-water detention pond was designed and constructed. The outlet for the pond discharges into an existing City storm sewer. WHKS also provided construction administration and staking services for the project.
